What is
The Emergency Medical Traveler™ is a custom made Universal Serial Bus (USB) Flash Drive the shape of a heart. The heart is downloaded with a profile to enter the picture, medical, personal and insurance information of the heart owner. The profile is set up in a user friendly Microsoft Word format allowing the heart owner to make any changes, add to, or subtract from, as they so choose. We suggest you print a copy of the profile and ask your Physician to help fill it out plus add anything they feel would be of importance. The heart comes with a generous 256 MB of space allowing room for extra files on the hearts drive. The emergency information you chose to place on your heart is accessible via computer USB 2.0 port. The drive is compatible with both PC and Mac. PC running Microsoft Windows, 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS R9.x/0S X, or Linux 2.4x. No driver installation required except Microsoft Windows 98.
The Emergency Medical Traveler™ was invented in 2008 by Ron Zogg to give every American a better chance of surviving the now third leading cause of death in the United States, potentially preventable medical errors. The heart comes with a message on the outside giving your written HIPAA consent to access the life saving information you placed inside. If you have information you don’t want seen, don’t put it on the heart's drive. Common sense tells us that Emergency Services and Medical Personel don't need information such as your Social Security Number, Credit Card Numbers, Mother's Maiden Name, Etc. which are the type of information that leads to identity theft. But instead they do need to know information such as Who You Are, Your Medical Conditions, Alergies, Medications You Are Taking, Next Of kin or Contact Person, etc., in order to save your life in an emergency situation. You could choose to carry your emergency medical information on any of the USB flash drives available however the Emergency Medical Traveler™ is the only one that grants your written HIPAA consent that Emergency Services and Medical Professionals need to access that information.
